3 Jan - Marston Doles - 990.1 miles to go

This lunchtime did a small circular walk from Marston Doles bridge (SP457599), along the Oxford Canal, then a short stretch of the Millennium Way and back to the start. 3.9 miles in 1:15 hours.

Much of a contrast to yesterday - the only people I passed were a couple of farmers in their working vehicles and a delivery driver. All waved as they passed. Very pleasant canal walk, and also along the Millenium Way (www.walking.41club.org). Nothing spectacular, just a straight canal/country ramble. I enjoyed the birds whistling in the hedges and splashing through the puddles - definately a Wellington Boot walk, given the rain recently.

After re-reading my own post from yesterday, decided I sounded a bit mean towards birdwatchers. I should add that I used to be one! I understand their keen-ness and focus, I just feel that some forget to enjoy what they are doing. It's a fine activity. (I must make more of an effort to chat with people I meet, rather than make judgemental comments about them in a blog hours later!)

Bridge 118 on the Oxford Canal - cracking up a bit, but so elegant compared to most modern efforts, yet it leads nowhere with just fields of grass on either side.
